After a couple of false starts (Kevin Greutert, who was yanked back to the Saw franchise, and producer Akiva Goldsman, who was only ever rumoured), the Paranormal Activity sequel has a director: Tod “Kip” Williams.
Writing at the film’s official site, original Paranormal director Oren Peli announced the news: “I have some awesome news for the fans – Kip Williams will join us for the next chapter of the story.
“We are thrilled to have Kip working with us. He is the guy we want at the helm, because he knows exactly what we want to deliver. I don’t want to spoil the story but I promise it’ll surprise you.” Will it have spooky happenings in it? That would not actually surprise us.
So, who is “Kip” Williams? He’s the man who made 2004’s Jeff Bridges/ Kim Basinger-starring pic The Door In The Floor, but he’s had more experience making lower budget documentaries, so he should have a solid handle on how to make a decent follow-up to the cheaply-made hit.
That said, the last part could equally apply to Joe Berlinger, and we know how Book Of Shadows: Blair Witch 2 turned out, now don’t we?
