It feels like we’ve been waiting a long time for indie comedy The Oranges to actually hit cinemas outside of the festival circuit since it was finished last year. But now the film, which stars Hugh Laurie, Katherine Keener, Alia Shawkat, Allison Janney, Oliver Platt and Leighton Meester, has released a trailer, which you can watch below courtesy of Yahoo.
The Oranges focuses on two suburban New Jersey families, the Ostroffs, led by Cathy (Janney) and Terry (Platt) and the Wallings, headed by David (Laurie) and (Paige) Keener. For years they’ve been best friends, sharing celebrations and supporting each other.
But David and Paige’s marriage crumbles when he starts a relationship with Cathy and Terry’s daughter Nina, who has suddenly returned after breaking up with her fiancé. Things become more awkward as they fall deeper in love, which also affects Terry's daughter Vanessa (Shawkat), Nina’s childhood friend. Soon everyone is re-examining their lives…
Given that cast, we’re hoping this one is a comedy treat, though we’re going to have to wait a little longer, for while it’s set to arrive in the US on October 5, it doesn’t yet have a UK release date.
