Even though the last time she dipped her toes in the waters of action comedy we got the nightmare that was Killers, that hasn’t put Katherine Heigl off the idea of combining laughs with beating people up. For her next stab at the genre blend, she’s at least got a solid foundation in Janet Evanovich’s numerical pun-obsessed Stephanie Plum books, with the first, One for the Money, on the way. Now the poster is online, and can be viewed below.

Money finds Heigl as Plum, a lingerie buyer who has hit some serious financial troubles after losing her job. With her car snatched by debt collectors, Plum turns to her sleazy cousin for help, convincing him to give her a job at his bail-bonding company tracking down wayward criminals. She’s not exactly born to the task – she’s never handled a gun and doesn’t own a pair of handcuffs, but Stephanie gives it her all.

Trouble is, her first case not only involves chasing down the charming Joe Morelli (Jason O’Mara), the bloke who broke her heart in high school, but also meddling family members, a potentially murderous boxer and the little matter of witnesses who keep dying on her.

Heigl will have to go some to convince audiences she can do more than play the rom-com card, and given that Evanovich created a compelling and wildly popular character, she’ll also be judged by how well she embodies the unlikely bounty hunter.

One for the Money is out on January 27 in the States, but doesn't seem to have a solid release date for the UK yet.
