The first teaser trailer for sci-fi teen novel adaptation** I Am Number Four** has arrived online and you can watch it below.
I Am Number Four has been adapted from the writings of “Pittacus Lore” (aka Jobie Hughes and James Frey). The story follows a young alien (Alex Pettifer) from the planet Lorien who has lived his life so far moving around the US to avoid the evil Mogadorians who invaded his planet and are now trying to hunt he and his fellow survivors down on Earth. Our hero is reaching the age where he really just wants to live a normal existence, an urge that multiples when he meets the lovely Sarah (Glee’s Diana Agron). But then his powers start to appear and he realises that he can’t fight destiny.
This moody, action-tastic trailer gives you some idea of just what those powers are, and is heavy on atmosphere that suggests a darker-tinged action movie than you might have expected given that "teen" moniker. It also looks kinda cool if you ask us - but then we're suckers for a well-modelled trench coat.
**Empire **got an exclusive chance to visit the set and talk to the cast and crew, including director DJ Caruso. While you can expect our full report in the future issue of the magazine, here's a little taste of what Caruso had to say.
Waving off any worries about this being a sci-fi-flavoured take on **Twilight, **he admitted the similarities: “There's definitely young romance for sure, but I don't know... it's interesting because there is some crazy action in this movie. I mean, like, crazy action, I can't even tell you."
Crazy how? “I am a fan of sci-fi. I had to ground Eagle Eye in reality, to make it more like the French Connection and now this is me making a leap and making a proper sci-fi movie where people can pick things up with their minds or jump over a house...” Game on!
I Am Number Four is out on February 18, 2011 in the US and UK.
