Noah Wyle, lately of ER and the surprisingly fun The Librarian series of TV films, has signed up to star in an alien invasion TV pilot for channel TNT, writer-director Robert Rodat, and executive producer Steven Spielberg.

The series is based on an idea that Rodat and Spielberg came up with, and written by Rodat (who penned the 'Berg's Saving Private Ryan). It's set after an alien force has wiped out most of the human population, with Wyle playing the leader of a ragtag group of soldiers and civilians who are fighting back against the occupying force.

As you may remember, Spielberg was involved in ER, and said of the casting that, "It is a privilege to be starting a second series with Noah. The first didn't do too badly." Network TNT is also behind Wyle's Librarian films, so he should feel at home for what sounds like a promising sci-fi TV idea.
