First announced 18 months or so ago with Nicole Kidman, Hugo Weaving and Guy Pearce in the leads, Aussie melodrama Strangerland is now complete, with Joseph Fiennes replacing the latter. Following its debut for the select audience at Sundance, here's a trailer for the rest of us.
The indie drama involves a couple, Catherine and Matthew Parker, coping with the unfortunate event of both their children vanishing in the Australian outback in a dust storm. Forced to confront the mystery of the kids' fate, some obvious relationship strains come to the fore.
Kidman is, obviously enough, Catherine Parker, with Fiennes as Matthew and Weaving as town cop Detective Rae. Maddison Brown and Nicholas Hamilton play the kids Lily and Tom.
Fiona Seres and Michael Kiniron wrote the screenplay, and Kim Farrant makes her feature debut as director. Strangerland doesn't have a UK release date yet.
