The rude, red band trailer for the new Vacation arrived just last month. But here comes a new promo, laden with fresh footage (and one or two repeated moments), looking to sell you on a new trip with the Griswolds.
This new film picks up the Griswold clan as it has evolved into a grown Rusty’s (Ed Helms) family. He’s settled down, married wife Debbie (Christina Applegate) and has two kids, Kevin (Steele Stebbins) and James (Skyler Gisondo). But though their life seems happy, he’s convinced it’s not all it could be.
So Rusty decides to replicate his father Clark’s (Chevy Chase, who pops up alongside on-screen wife Beverly D’Angelo) attempt to take the family to the Walley World theme park. Of course, they have to drive (in Rusty’s questionable car) and there are misadventures along the way. Including a stop in with Audrey Griswold (Leslie Mann) and her weird sex god husband Stone Crandall (played by a man with some experience in godly roles, Chris Hemsworth). As far as trailers go, this one aims to bottle the spirit of the original Vacation while showing that the new movie has its own identity. With Keegan-Michael Key, Nick Kroll, Charlie Day, Regina Hall and Kaitlin Olson in the cast, the new Vacation comes from writers-turned-directors John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein. It’ll visit our cinemas on August 21.
