New Transcendence Poster Lands

You may already have seen the first couple of teasers and initial trailer for Wally Pfister’s Transcendence. Warner Bros. has now released the poster, which can mean only one thing: a new trailer is on the way. Lest you doubt our psychic powers, we've actually been told that the new promo will be online tomorrow. Meanwhile, here’s the back of Johnny Depp’s head.

Depp stars as Dr. Will Caster, a computer scientist deep into researching the singularity, the point at which artificial intelligence overtakes human and the two begin to merge. His intent is to create a machine that can channel real human emotions, thereby making it the most powerful computational device ever known.

Will's highly controversial experiments make him famous, but they have also made him the prime target of anti-technology extremists, including a group called Rift, who will do whatever it takes to stop him. However, in their attempt to destroy Will, they inadvertently become the catalyst for him to succeed, to be a participant in his own transcendence.

For his wife Evelyn (Rebecca Hall) and best friend Max Waters (Paul Bettany), both fellow researchers, the question is not if they can… but if they should. Well, if you’ve seen the trailer, they know that they do, and with catastrophic results that would make Jeff Farey’s Jobe in The Lawnmower Man chuckle while saying, “I told you so!” {Transcendence Stills}

With Morgan Freeman, Cillian Murphy, Cole Hauser, Kate Mara and Clifton Collins Jr. among the cast, Transcendence will emerge into our cinemas on April 25. If it’s being projected digitally, we want Depp to send it using only his compu-brain.
