The teaser trailer for Sony’s follow-up to the success of 2012’s Hotel Transylvania flapped through our web windows back in March, and brought with it the first look at the new movie. Now here comes not one, but two new full trailers, one aimed at us in the UK (below) and US audiences (at the bottom of the page). They tell roughly the same story, but feature plenty of different footage chunks.
This new film picks up the narrative a few years after the original. These days, Dracula (Adam Sandler) is a happy grandfather, having accepted human son-in-law Johnny (Andy Samberg) and delighting in spending time with grandson Dennis. But when Dennis and Drac’s daughter Mavis (Selena Gomez) take a well-earned holiday, Drac volunteers to care for Dennis with the help of pals Frank (Kevin James), Wayne (Steve Buscemi), Griffin (David Spade) and the rest. Trouble is, Dennis is showing few signs of developing into a vampire, and in fact might be more human than anyone suspects.
Intent on making a monster out of the lad, Drac, whose hotel now accepts humans, tries his best to bring out Dennis’ scary side, to little effect. And things get more complicated when Drac’s father Vlad (Mel Brooks) shows up and casts an ancient, beady disapproving eye over everything his son is doing.
With director Genndy Tartakovsky back in charge of the monster mash and returning voices Fran Drescher and Molly Shannon joined by new recruit Keegan-Michael Key (who takes over as Murray the Mummy), Hotel Transylvania 2 is out in the States on September 25 before making it to the UK on October 9.
