The **Empire **peepers have glimpsed a fair few minutes of Ben Stiller's **The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty **and what we've seen so far looks terrific - just head to our in-depth piece on the topic over here for details. The movie's new trailer, freshly online-ified, gives no reason to suspect that won't be the case. Smell it with your eyes, right here.
Based on James Thurber's short story, The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty, it's the story of a man, Mitty (Stiller), who's prone to daydreaming. Not just ordinary daydreaming, mind you - forget those flights of fancy that might take you to the Dog & Duck for a mid-afternoon pint, for Mitty's peregrinations take him to the windswept corners of the Earth to tackle tempests, grand adventure and deadly spy business. Still, each to their own.
The trailer - and that Of Monsters And Men track is probably no coincidence considering the film's Icelandic locations - gives a first look at Sean Penn, Kristen Wiig and Adam Scott, Stiller's support, and a flavour of the film's soaring tone. **The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty **is a long-time Stiller passion project that will grasp for the epic or die trying.
“It’s not like I’m trying to prove anything, or force something down people’s throats,” Stiller explains in the latest issue of Empire. “I’m just trying to do different things, to make the kind of movie I’m interested in making. The kind of movie I’d like to go and see.” We're already on board for the ride.
The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty is out on December 26.
