"I feel the need, the need for speed." Those immortal words may not originally have been uttered by the stars of Road, but they might as well have been. The new documentary focuses on motorbike road racers like the Dunlop family, led by the late, great Joey Dunlop, two generations of which have dominated the sport, and the dangers and triumphs they face. Check out the trailer below.
brightcove.createExperiences();Going at up to 200mph on closed country roads - you know, normal roads with lamp posts and kerbs and other hazards - road racers take their lives in their hands every time they step out. The TT Races on the Isle of Man and the Northwest 200 on the north coast of Northern Ireland are two of the premiere events in the calendar, and for decades they've generally featured a member of the Dunlop family: either brothers Joey and Robert, or Robert's sons William and Michael. This documentary focuses on the two sets of brothers to tell their story and the story of the sport, all narrated by the fittingly Northern Irish (given that the Dunlops hail from the province) tones of Liam Neeson.
Road hits cinemas on June 11. The Northwest 200, for those of you with a high tolerance for noisy engines and in the Triangle area of Northern Ireland, is on all this week.
