Nordic noirs tend to end up in dark terrain littered with dead dogs, battered protagonists and humour so black you could tar a road with it. The latest addition to the canon is In Order Of Disappearance, a thriller that’s billed as a rollicking, gory and funny delve into Norway’s dark underbelly that brings to mind a certain Coen brothers film. It has a new trailer you can feast your eyes on below. Welcome to Fargø.
brightcove.createExperiences();The ‘hero’ of the piece is Nils (Stellan Skarsgård), a snow-plough driver who discovers that his son has died, supposedly of a drug overdose. But Nils knows that his son isn’t a junkie and suspects foul play. His suspicions are confirmed when he tracks down (and brutally kills) two gang members who confess to involvement in the crime. Soon Nils is swept up in a turf war between two gangs: one local and one Serbian. As you can see from these stills from the film, things don't go smoothly from there. In Order Of Disappearance is out in the UK on September 12. Mark your diaries.
