There have been a couple of trailers already for Joel and Ethan Coen’s latest, Inside Llewyn Davis, and while this new promo doesn’t break too much new ground, it does at least offer up a few new snippets.
Drive’s Oscar Isaac stars as the titular folk musician, whose life is at a crossroads. We follow him through a week as, guitar in tow, huddled against the unforgiving New York winter, he struggles to make it against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, some of them of his own making. Living at the mercy of friends and strangers, scaring up what work he can find, Llewyn’s misadventures take him from the baskethouses of the Village to an empty Chicago club – on an odyssey to audition for a music mogul – and back again.
With Carey Mulligan spitting venom as Jean, the woman he’s been having an affair with behind a friend's back, and fellow performer Jim (Justin Timberlake) and a typically eclectic Coen ensemble that includes John Goodman, Adam Driver, Garrett Hedlund and Ethan Phillips, Inside Llewyn Davis is out in the US on December 20 (following a limited awards run starting December 6) before hitting the UK on January 24.
We got a look at the film at Cannes and were impressed – you can read our reaction here.
