Catherine Hardwicke has established herself as a specialist in young female protagonists who are teetering on the edge of ravines (metaphorical ones obviously, not the kind James Franco fell down in 127 Hours). They've been filled with sexy vampires, drugs, big bad wolves and, in the case of her new psychodrama ** Plush**, creepy obsessives with an alarming disregard for personal boundaries. The movie's new trailer gives a taste of what to expect.
The star of the show - in every sense - is up-and-coming rocker Hayley (Emily Browning). She's a married mum whose relationship with husband Cam Gigandet is threatened when her brother and band mate dies of a drug overdose and his replacement as the band's guitarist, Enzo (The Twilight Saga: Eclipse's Xavier Samuel), turns up with mystery, handsomeness and hot guitar riffs in tow. Her world is swiftly is turned upside down, and becomes... hell, we're just going to go ahead and use the phrase "erotically charged" here.
But as the trailer makes abundantly clear, Enzo is nothing like the no-strings-attached funster she may have been hoping for. Before you can say "Holy Pacific Heights!", he's terrorising every aspect of her life and threatening her family.
**Plush **has a US release set for September 13. No word on its UK launch as yet.
