The first trailer for Paul WS Anderson’s take on The Three Musketeers, Alexandre Dumas’ classic tale of adventure, that arrived back in March, now almost feels like it was just a tease for this, the first full trailer. Take a look below.

This time around, we’re treated to more plot info, which boils down to the baddies – Christoph Waltz’ sneaky Cardinal Richelieu, Milla Jovovich’s killer Milady and Orlando Bloom’s slightly misguided, airship-obsessed Duke of Buckingham – planning to conquer the entire continent of Europe with superior firepower and a hefty army.

So it’s up to the heroic musketeers – Athos (Matthew Macfadyen), Porthos (Ray Stevenson) and Aramis (Luke Evans) – to stop them. Along for the ride is D’Artagnan (Percy Jackson’s Logan Lerman), a wannabe member of the team who gets a chance to prove his steel.

The Dumas story is really just a jumping off point for Anderson to indulge in his favourite things: explosions, people jumping around, more explosions and his missus (Jovovich) looking good while holding weapons and being athletic. Oh, also? Explosions.

We get to see what all the fuss is about when the film arrives on October 12.
