A hallmark of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cinematic outings in the 1990s were the awesomely awful (or awfully awesome, depending on your view) rap tunes that accompanied them, notably Partners In Kryme’s 'Turtle Power' and Vanilla Ice’s 'Ninja Rap'. The, er, proud tradition continues with the new Turtles movie, as Wiz Khalifa, Juicy J, and Ty Dolla $ign have produced Shell Shocked, as showcased on the film’s new TV spot.
It’s certainly a step up from the earlier efforts, though time will tell whether it will stand the test of time by becoming an annoying earworm in the style of this or this.
The new mini-trailer meanwhile, reveals a few new snippets from the film, which finds the heroes in a half shell called upon to save New York City from Shredder and his evil Foot Clan. You know, business as usual for the boys. This time around, director Jonathan Liebesman and producer Michael Bay have employed performance capture to bring the Turtles to life, alongside a cast that also includes Megan Fox, Will Arnett, Whoopi Goldberg, Abby Elliott and Tony Shalhoub as the voice of their mutated rat sensei Splinter.
**Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles **shouts "cowabunga!" and leaps into our cinemas on October 17.
