Sucker Punch’s UK release date is now just over a month away, and to keep it in our minds, Warner Bros. has released another trailer for Zack Snyder’s latest, which you can watch below thanks to the magic of embed-o-vision.
If you’re not already salivating at the prospect of Snyder bringing his specific visual style to a genre-blending mash-up of The Matrix, 300, Kill Bill, Terry Gilliam, comic books and more, then we doubt this new promo – essentially a music video sliced from the film to accompany Panic Switch by Silversun Pickups – will do much to convince you. Particularly as it’s content to show off the leading ladies doing their thang more than trying to explain why anything is happening on screen.
What this latest trailer is really about is getting you to head over to the official Sucker Punch site to play with the new “trailer painter,” essentially a tool that lets you take a frame of the trailer and draw all over it with Photoshop-like software, then upload your masterpiece for all to see.
As for the plot, you likely know by now that it focuses on Babydoll (Emily Browning), an unfortunate lass condemned to a mental institution by the evil stepfather who has designs on her body. Babydoll is facing the prospect of a lobotomy, so to escape her dire reality, she retreats into a fantasy world, where she’s joined on a mission by the kick-ass likes of Jamie Chung, Vanessa Hudgens, Abbie Cornish and Jena Malone on a mission that might just help her escape her fate.
Sucker Punch is out on April 1.
