We already know that the Breaking Bad team are adept at making great television. But this really is a treat – a teaser for the upcoming second half of Season Five, the eight episodes that will chronicle the end of the series – that features no footage from the show and yet still manages to be both effective and crafty.

Utilising two of the show’s natural advantages (beautiful New Mexico landscapes and Bryan Cranston’s mesmerising delivery), the new teaser puts lines from Percy Bysshe Shelley’s poem Ozymandias over haunting imagery of the desert, plus iconic Breaking Bad elements such as the RV.
And as we’re led, slowly, but inexorably to the door of Walter White’s house, the doom-laden lines of the text take on incredible significance. Will Heisenberg’s burgeoning criminal empire crumble away to dust? We already know the final eight episodes are designed to be an intense experience, but we’ll have to wait and see exactly how it all ends.
The series returns to US TV screens on August 11, with UK viewers getting their first glimpse on August 12 via the kind people at Netflix.
