Though we’ve had a couple of trailers already, several big events (Comic-Con, D23 etc.) have come and gone without any new Star Wars: The Force Awakens promos. And while this is a tiny little fragment courtesy of the films’ official Instagram feed, it’s still pretty darn nifty. Check it out, though naturally, we’d caution for potential spoilers in the footage and below if you’re trying to remain on the pure side of the Force.

Most likely to cause squealing? We’d guess at John Boyega firing up the lightsaber we already know he uses thanks to the Drew Struzan D23 poster and other imagery. But from the looks of this, it appears he’s facing off against Kylo Ren in that snowy forest…
The snippet is full of doom and portent, using a version of Supreme Leader Snoke’s (Andy Serkis) intonation about an awakening that gave us chills in the original trailer. Cue shots of the First Order, Daisy Ridley’s Rey looking to the skies, Adam Driver’s Ren and his weapon of choice, then that shot of Boyega’s Finn looking ready to deliver a saber smack down. The longer trailer should be arriving in the coming weeks.
Oh, and if you weren’t already aware, The Force Awakens **is all over Empire this issue, including our exclusive, BB-8 subscriber’s cover and superb coverage inside. It’s now at newsagents and shops with newsstand covers for both the heroes and villains, so go and choose your allegiance.
