A couple of weeks away from its premiere at the BFI London Film Festival, here's a batch of new character posters for Suffragette. Carey Mulligan, Helena Bonham Carter, Meryl Streep, Brendan Gleeson, Anne-Marie Duff and Ben Whishaw star, and each gets a one-sheet to chain to your railings. Or Blu-Tack will do.
Suffragette tells the tale of the footsoldiers who spearheaded the suffrage movement, fighting against ingrained sexism and their own families' reactions. Streep plays Emmeline Pankhurst, while Bonham Carter plays campaigner Edith New, and Mulligan is Maud Watts, who becomes an important part of their struggle. Gleeson is copper Arthur Steed, Duff is factory worker Violet Miller, and Whishaw is Maud's gruff husband Sonny.
With Sarah Gavron directing an Abi Morgan script, Suffragette already has a lot of buzz. It’ll play at the BFI London Film Festival on October 7 at the Odeon Leicester Square, with simultaneous screenings in cinemas across the UK. It gets its full wide release on October 12.
