After the onslaught of trailers, teasers, effects explanations and imagery, we’re now being treated to an extended clip from Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes, which you can watch below.

Introduced by Caesar himself (all right, it’s Andy Serkis, the man behind the mon… Chimp), we get a longer look at a couple of scenes that the trailers have already touched on – namely Caesar’s time spent living with scientist Will Rodman (James Franco) and his father (John Lithgow).

Rodman brings his test subject home to continue monitoring his development as the increasingly intelligent chimp starts to show real learning power. There, Caesar bonds with Will’s pop and violently defends him when the increasingly Alzheimer’s-afflicted man tries to drive a neighbour’s car with chaotic results.

The rest of the film focuses on the animal uprising that will see mankind eventually enslaved by their simian overlords...

From the looks of the clip, which gives you a nice, close-up look at Caesar, the wizards of Weta really have worked their magic on this one, with Serkis’ performance shining through too.

With Rupert Wyatt in the director's chair, Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes invades our screens on August 11.
