Michael Winterbottom's look at the life of Paul Raymond, with Steve Coogan starring, ran into a hitch a few months ago when another film with the same title was announced. But now it has a new title, The Look Of Love, and a new poster, and we have them exclusively here.
The film's plot sees Coogan play Paul Raymond, a 20th century legend who became known as the "King Of Soho", the film's original title. He began his career in show business with a nude review, featuring tableaux (think Mrs Henderson Presents...), and then moved into publishing with a series of rather racy magazines. Some extremely good investments later, and he was a major property owner in Soho and a force to be reckoned with. The film will focus on the women in his life as well as his career, and you can expect more posters to come showing Coogan's Raymond through the years.
Coogan said of the film, "Like 24 Hour Party People, it's a very British story about an eccentric character at the centre of pivotal events in British culture. I love the film. It has that strange combination of comedy and tragedy that Michael Winterbottom manages to pull off with a real deftness of touch. Like very few films these days it's actually about something without being portentous. Oh and there's lots of naked ladies in it too!"
Naked ladies you say? And comedy and tragedy and Coogan? Surely that's something for everyone. The Look Of Love also stars Anna Friel, Imogen Poots, Matt Lucas, Stephen Fry and David Walliams, and hits UK cinemas on March 8.{The Look Of Love}
