After a few intriguing glimpses in previous trailers and featurettes, the new international trailer for** The Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes** finally gives us a proper sense of how exciting this franchise rebooter could well be.

It shows both emotional beats as young “chimp plus” Caesar (Andy Serkis, peformance-captured by his Rings/Kong collaborators Weta Digital) grows up in the home of scientist Will Rodman (James Franco), and the rousing action sequences when the abused Caesar leads his fellow apes to escape their oppression and take on humanity.

While the first trailer solidly showcased Weta’s groundbreaking visual effects work, this infinitely more exciting incarnation adds depth, smarts and — crucially — a real sense of scale to what now looks set to be a major summer tentpole.

The (r)evolution will begin on August 12.
