Just when you thought it was safe to venture back onto the seven seas, or at least the internet, up pops the most feared buccaneer of them all. Yes, it's Captain Haddock Blackbeard. Ian McShane's beardy brigand is the last of the week's cornucopia of Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides character banners and seems a fittingly sinister note to wrap up on. Especially if you're planning to spend the weekend sailing around in a flaming galleon.

According to our sources on Piratepedia, the real Blackbeard hailed from Bristol and had a CV as long as your arm. Most of his work came hijacking privateers around the Caribbean and the Atlantic coast of the American colonies, although he also cited 'pillaging' and 'plank-walking' among his interests.

Of course the marvellous McShane hails from an antiques shop in East Anglia, via the town of Deadwood, but judging by that impressive facial hair and pirate garb, he makes a pretty convincing seadog too. Click on the poster for a closer look.

In Pirates 4, Blackbeard and his flagship, Queen Anne’s Revenge (the real Blackbeard's vessel), are joined by Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) and his fellow adventurer Angelica (Penelope Cruz) as they hunt for the Fountain of Youth.

If it's more banners ye be after, feast your peepers on this little lot.
