Fifteen years after Charles M. Schulz drew his last Snoopy, his beloved cartoon strip is arriving on the big screen in 3D animated form. Snoopy And Charlie Brown: The Peanuts Movie has a new trailer that Empire, dedicated dog and small bird lover to a person, is happy to debut right here.
The movie sees Snoopy reconvening with his old pals Linus, Lucy and, of course, Charlie Brown for more canine adventures, some of an aeronautical kind and involving the dreaded Red Baron, air ace and scourge of the skies. Mostly, though, it looks like more of a coming-of-age romance as the adorable and awkward Charlie goes a bit Kevin-Arnold-and-Winnie with the new kid in town. And the new kid? None other than unseen (in the comic strip, at least) Peanuts character, Little Red-Haired Girl.
We’re promised that despite a CG upgrade from Blue Sky Studios (of Rio and Ice Age fame), the spirit and feeling of the classic Peanuts cartoons is being fervently maintained. Despite the shift of animation style, this feels like the Peanuts we know and love. Expect the cry of “Good grief!” to go up when Snoopy And Charlie Brown: The Peanuts Movie makes its UK cinema bow (geddit) on December 21, 2015.
