The** Paranormal Activity** franchise continues to run backwards, with the imminent Paranormal Activity 3 constituting a prequel to last year's prequel. Here's a new poster which, true to form, tells us very little. From the trailer though, we know that one of these two girls is Katie...
The directors this time are Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman who were behind Catfish, last year's is-it-or-isn't-it-real documentary Facebook stalker thriller. Catfish certainly isn't a horror film, but it does have a troubling off-kilter feel to it that ought to sit well in the found-footage poltergeist franchise. Original director Oren Peli is still aboard as producer, along with Steven Schneider and Akiva Goldsman, and the screenplay is by Christopher B Landon, who wrote Disturbia.
Paranormal Activity 2 managed to spin in some surprising directions (although it ditched the poltergeist-as-stalker suggestion that we rather liked from the first film), so Joost and Schulman will have their work cut out keeping that rug-pulling momentum going. We'll find out if they succeeded on October 21.
