If you thought that Guillermo del Toro’s giant robots vs. massive monsters movie Pacific Rim had exhausted its supply of promotional posters, you thought wrong. Here comes a new image of hero vehicle Gypsy Danger striding through the streets.

For the benefit of those that don’t yet know, Pacific Rim finds humanity under attack from giant creatures known as Kaiju. Emerging from the depths of the ocean via a portal to another dimension, these huge, horrific beasts lay siege to our cities and smash our structures to the ground, looking to wipe out the human race. Which is, we think you’ll agree, somewhat rude.

In response, various countries plunder their budgets to build enormous robot craft called Jaegers piloted by brain-linked people to fight back against the threat. At first it seems like the plan is working... But then the tide of war turns against us. Our only hope is a washed up pilot (Charlie Hunnam) and a raw recruit (Rinko Kikuchi), who must reactivate and utilise old Jaeger Gypsy Danger if anyone is to survive the latest incursion.

Given how much property damage ol’ Gypsy and the rest of the Jaegers do, it’s a wonder that molten hatch on its front isn’t just a huge speaker through which pilots can blare apologies for stepping on peoples’ cars (“Sorry, but in our defence, you did have a toy Garfield stuck to the back window...”) rather than a weapon to take out nasty beasts.

Pacific Rim is out on July 12. Read our trailer breakdown right here.
