If you found thefirst trailer for One Day a little spoilerific, you should be on safer turf with the second shiny instalment of Lone Scherfig's life-spanning romance.
Most of the big plot points are still here: the uni meeting of Emma (Anne Hathaway) and Dexter (Jim Sturgess); their chaste night together and growing friendship; as well as Dex's unfortunate habit of screwing things up in a big old mess of booze and media whoring. With her solid work on An Education in mind, Scherfig's gifted hands are a safe place to entrust this beloved story, the leads seem to have plenty of chemistry and there's classy-looking support from Rafe Spall, Patricia Clarkson, Romola Garai and Jodie Whittaker.
If you're one of the handful of people who haven't read it,** One Day** is based on a bestseller by David Nicholls, the man who gave us the sparky but seriously underrated Starter For 10. Is this the Bridget Jones successor we've been waiting for? We hope so. It's out on August 26. Hoorah!
