It's one of those books that everyone seems to have been reading over the last year or two. David Nicholls' One Day is the story of Emma and Dexter, who meet on July 15, 1988 and who we revisit on that same date over a period of two decades at key moments in their relationship. The film version is now on its way from Lone "An Education" Scherfig, and here are the UK posters for the film to prove it.
Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturgess are starring as Emma and Dexter here, with support from Romola Garai, Patricia Clarkson, Rafe Spall and Jodie Whittaker. It's a pretty goshdarn solid cast for a book that seems to have resonated with everyone who's read it: Em-and-Dex's complex friendship / whatever over the years is something that most people can relate to, and the story manages to mix fights, friendship, tragedy, comedy and (most of all) missed opportunities brilliantly.
One Day is out in the UK on August 26. If this poster (a twist on the US effort that's already out there) is anything to go by, expect a little swoonsome romance as well.
