New Last Stand Trailer Drives Up

As if his role in** The Expendables 2** and our big special issue a couple of months ago wasn’t enough to convince you, Arnold Schwarzenegger is back on our screens. His latest is desert chaos action pic The Last Stand, and the latest trailer is now online. Check it out above.

The Last Stand finds Arnie as Sheriff Ray Owens, which will be clear from the none-more-Dredd way that Arnie announces, "I am the Sheriff" in the clip above. What he doesn't add is the fact that he's a former LAPD narcotics officer who left the force after a bungled operation left people dead and Owens wracked with guilt.

Now Owens is happy to live out the rest of his career in the sleepy border town of Sommerton Junction. That is, until the most notorious drug kingpin in history, Gabriel Cortez (Eduardo Noriega) makes a daring escape from federal custody and heads for the Mexican border in a specially outfitted sports car.

Sheriff Owens and his rag-tag team of deputies (including Johnny Knoxville’s Lewis and Luis Guzman’s Mike) are all that stand between the crime lord, his mercenary supporters and the border. Or in other words: fight!

With Jee-woon Kim directing, there's an old-school feel to this trailer, running from the leisurely pacing to the music to the sight of Arnie waving a huge firearm around a built-up area to, well, jokes about Arnie's age. **The Last Stand **arrives in our cinemas on January 25.[[Poll819]]
