A new name and now a new teaser poster. John Carter – the erstwhile John Carter Of Mars – is shaping up for the big screen someone out there in movieland. Excited to see what Pixar magician Andrew Stanton is doing with Edgar Rice Burroughs' sci-fi? Us too.
The one-sheet obviously doesn't shed too much light, but it does at least give a glimpse of a stacked Taylor Kitsch as the man himself, John Carter. For those not familiar with the Burrough's tale, before that '-of Mars' bit, Carter is a soldier who leaves the army and is mysteriously transported to the red planet.
There he gets embroiled in a colossal civil war between the two factions: the giant green Martians (Thomas Hayden Church, Willem Dafoe, Samantha Morton) and the more human red Martians (Lynn Collins, Dominic West, James Purefoy). Can't helping thinking that's a long way to travel just to get stuck in another bloody great war. Ho hum.
