One promo for Luc Besson’s new action thriller, the Scarlett Johansson-focused Lucy, arrived last month. Here comes the new international trailer, which promises more footage of Johansson slowly turning into a sort of Bourne-meets**-X-Me****n** heroine.
Johansson plays the titular woman, living in a futuristic Asian city. Kidnapped one night, she’s knocked out and has drug packages sewn into her stomach. When one of the packs accidentally leaks into her blood stream, it fires up unused portions of her brain, giving her strength, speed, knowledge and abilities beyond those of normal humans.
Soon, she’s on a mission to track down and stop the people responsible for her situation, with some help from a professor, who knows a thing or two about the workings of the human mind. Of course, he is played Morgan Freeman, which means he comes in handy when anything needs narrating or explaining in the voice of god. We’d wonder what would happen if her enemies decide to inject someone with the drugs to try to stop her, but perhaps this is one of those one-time, weird accident deals?
While the last trailer went for orchestral backing, this one sounds more like the opening of the Knight Rider theme; just listen and tell us you don’t start humming it. We doubt the Hoff will show up, though. Lucy arrives in the US on August 8 before packing her bags and flying over here for August 22.
