Move over J.J. Abrams. You have competition in the lens flare department, and from the unlikeliest of sources: this new Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit poster, featuring Chris Pine, Keira Knightley, Kevin Costner and some sort of corporate logo.

Notable by his absence is Kenneth Branagh, director of the piece as well as its villain, the evil Russian businessman Viktor Cherevin. You can find out more about his role if you have a look at the trailer at the bottom of this story.

Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit is a reboot of Ryan’s origin story that has **Star Trek’**s Chris Pine inheriting the mantle from Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford and Ben Affleck.

In this one, despite his relative youth, Ryan’s an established CIA covert analyst who discovers a sneaky Russian plot to crash the U.S. economy. Naturally, stopping the evil plan won’t require sitting at a computer watching the stock market figures; it’ll mean Ryan getting into all sorts of action scrapes.

Add to that his handler / mentor, William Harper (Kevin Costner) trying to help him stay alive, and his relationship with wife Cathy (Keira Knightley) and you’ll got the makings of a full-on Ryan cocktail. Branagh and his team (including writer Adam Cozad tackling Tom Clancy’s most famous character) seem to be looking to the likes of Bourne and the modern Bond for this one.

With David Paymer, Colm Feore and Nonso Anozie among the cast, **Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit **is out in the UK on January 24, 2014.
