On early glimpses, next year promises something special and healthily original from** Toy Story** studio Pixar, with Pete Docter’s **Inside Out **arriving in cinemas. Some footage has already premiered, but here you can get up close and personal with the film’s main characters.

**Inside Out **is the story of a little girl called Riley, an 11 year-old who has moved with her family to San Francisco. More specifically, however, the focus is in her mind, exploring how memories are formed and how a mixture of five emotions – Joy (Amy Poehler), Disgust (Mindy Kaling), Anger (Lewis Black), Fear (Bill Hader) and Sadness (Phyllis Smith) – define her life experiences.

The character designs here are great: simple but evocative and with a lot of thought out into them. Plus Pixar’s reputation for casting great voice talent appears firmly intact. We’ve seen a little more of the film than has been generally released, and there is plenty more invention to be found in the rest of it. **Inside Out **is set for release on July 24.
