One of the treats in store for moviegoers at the tail end of the year is David Fincher's return to the big screen with Gone Girl. After a foray into telly with House Of Cards, feature-length Fincher will be back to delve into the murkier areas of the human psyche with an adaption of Gillian Flynn’s bestseller. It has a new poster showing its put-upon protagonist in contemplative mood.

Ben Affleck, of course, is that man: Nick Dunne. Here, as part of his drive to corner the market in men looking glumly away from things (see also: Batman), he’s reflecting on the catastrophe that has visited itself upon his life. His wife, Amy (Rosamund Pike), has disappeared and the bony finger of suspicion is beginning to point firmly in his direction.

The movie's marketing is riffing nicely on the idea of a voracious media ceaselessly hunting for fresh revelations and new angles on the story of Amy's disappearance. Here it's a partly detuned rolling news station - spot the Fox News/20th Century Fox synergies! - that forms the core of a haunting design.

We’re promised a suitably complex thriller that even boasts an altered ending dreamed up by Fincher and Flynn, plus a cast that also boasts Neil Patrick Harris, Scoot McNairy, Kim Dickens, Patrick Fugit, Missi Pyle, Tyler Perry, Sela Ward, Carrie Coon and David Clennon. **

Gone Girl** will be out on October 3 and you can also find the teaser posters below. {Gone Girl Teaser Posters}
