New Frank Trailer Bounds Online

If you were intrigued by the first clip from askew comedy Frank, which emerged online in January, then here comes the trailer to give you more a sense of the film as a whole. Even if it doesn’t try to explain everything…

The story, from The Men Who Stare At Goats’ Jon Ronson and Peter Straughan, finds Domhnall Gleeson as Jon, who joins a band led by the eccentric Frank (Michael Fassbender). Loosely based on comedian and musician Chris Sievey (with influences from Daniel Johnston and Captain Beefheart), **Frank **tells the story of a group who want to make some truly new music, and go about it in very strange ways.

Oh, and there’s the fact that Frank himself refuses to ever take his giant papier-mâché head off. When the group is offered a gig at the SXSW festival in Austin, Texas, a road trip begins that starts to show the cracks in the various friendships and, at one point, the head…

Frank comes from Lenny Abrahamson, who last brought us What Richard Did, and promises to deliver plenty of offbeat comedy. With Scoot McNairy, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Tess Harper, Travis Hammer (credited as “Man With An Amazing Face”) and Hayley Derryberry, **Frank **will be out here on May 9.
