Yes, it’s a group of people wearing cloaks and robes, looking down at the camera while a dragon flies past. There’s no denying we’re in the mystical land of fantasy film posters.
This is the new one-sheet for Eragon, the Fox fantasy based on the best-selling book. For those who’ve been living under a fantasy-free rock, it’s the story of a young man with a destiny who is introduced to a world of magic and power via a rock that turns out to be a dragon's egg. What do you mean you think you’ve heard this one?

Now a poster very similar to this has been out for a while, but the addition of that dragon in the background is the news today, because that's the first look we've had at Saphira, the dragon that our hero, Eragon, raises from a chick (cub? lizard? thingy?). And the good news is that she looks the part. Slightly bear-like head is present and correct; pleasant azure hue is accounted for, and she appears to have the wings you'd expect. Slightly weedy looking forelimbs, but who are we to quibble?
Eragon features the talents of Robert Carlyle, Jeremy Irons, Sienna Guillory and Edward Speleers and, according to an ancient prophesy, will strike our cinemas on 15 December.
