Hot on the heels of the first full trailer comes this new poster for Marcus Nispel's Conan the Barbarian, in which star Jason Momoa brings a world of hurt to, we assume, the dread legions of Stephen Lang. Armour is for wusses.
As with the previous poster, it's channelling some classic Conan imagery, perhaps in an effort to reassure the Robert E Howard fanbase that, despite an original story, this Conan is hewing closely to his roots. Compare and contrast with this Frank Frazetta painting and this Dark Horse comics cover, and you should start to see the point...
Appropriately aggressive stuff, and screenwriter Sean Hood promises that "The movie is unflinching in its depiction of barbarism, slavery and warfare, [although] the violence and nudity emerge from the fabric of the story... Yes, you’ll see blood and boobs, but this isn’t a Cinemax movie; it's epic action/fantasy. And yes, it's rated R!"
Rachel Nichols, Rose McGowan and Ron Perlman star along with Momoa and Lang, and Conan hacks his way into theatres - in proper, full-on Real-D 3D - on August 19.
