It's been too long since we saw a new Jim Sheridan film, but now the release date of Brothers is looming, and we have an exclusive new clip from the film to keep you going.
This scene comes relatively early in the film, at the funeral of Tobey Maguire's Captain Sam Cahill, a Marine who's gone missing in Afghanistan*. His black sheep brother Tommy (Jake Gyllenhaal) is trying to prevent their grief-stricken father (Sam Shepard) from driving after having a few tots of liquor during the ceremony.
Keep an eye out for Mare Winningham as the two brothers' stepmother, and Natalie Portman as Sam's wife Grace, probably the biggest role in the film. This adaptation of the Susanne Bier Danish film of the same name is a return to form for Sheridan after the disappointing Get Rich Or Die Trying waaay back in 2005, and with Maguire already up for a Golden Globe as a result, should get a warmer reception here.
Brothers is out in the UK on January 22.
*This is not a spoiler; it's in the trailer.
