What can we tell you about The Cabin In The Woods without spoiling too much? Well, we can say it’s co-written and directed by Cloverfield scribe Drew Goddard, with writing and producing assistance from his old Buffy boss, Avengers director Joss Whedon. It’s a fresh look at horror conventions and, oh yes, there’s a new trailer online via FEARnet. But if you’re really looking to avoid knowing too much, you might want to avoid it.
Still with us? Brave souls! Anyhoo, Cabin stars Chris Hemsworth, Fran Kranz, Kristen Connolly and more as a group of youthful types who head out to visit the titular dwelling in the also-titular tree-rich environment. They’re warned that they might not want to risk it, but, being characters in a horror movie, they naturally go ahead anyway. Cue screaming, running, blood and… Well, we’re really trying to keep this one quiet so as not to ruin anything. Which is annoying when you’re trying to write about a film.
The new trailer doesn’t add too much to the plot, but we’re still concerned it might give more away than some want to know. So tread carefully!
Cabin will get its big premiere at the SXSW Film Festival this weekend. Fortunately, we don’t have to wait too long now to see the thing, as it stalks into UK cinemas on April 13. That’s right: Friday the 13th. Appropriate!
