"How did you end up in the coffin, sir?" It's not a question you'd ever relish having to answer. It is, however, the worrying predicament facing Ryan Reynolds in the new trailer for Buried, a high-concept thriller that takes place almost exclusively six feet underground.
Reynolds is Paul Conroy, an American contractor who's abducted in Iraq and becomes the subject of a mahoosive ransom demand. When he wakes after the attack, he finds himself in a coffin with only a mobile phone and Zippo for company. Luckily, he seems to have the US State Department on speed-dial. Unluckily, they don't seem to have a spare $5m either.
The none-more-claustrophic teasers we've seen so far have left us gasping for air, so kudos to Lionsgate for their stylish Saul Bass-y take on the movie, which uses stills and eerie snippets from those phonecalls, all adorned with plenty of critical approval.
**Buried **is Rodrigo Cortés' first English-language film. We'll be getting our paper bag ready to blow into for its release on October 1.
