With the movie’s US release date less than a month away now, Disney brought a new Big Hero 6 sizzle reel to New York Comic-Con and has put the footage online for non-attendees to enjoy.
Big Hero 6, in case you’ve forgotten, finds Hiro (Ryan Potter), suiting up as part of a team of superheroes who must save the day when their city, San Fransokyo, comes under threat. He’ll be helped by Baymax (Scott Adsit), a squishy, loveable robot designed as a care assistant. And while Hiro doesn’t have powers of his own, the young genius has built a battle suit that lets him link with the ‘bot magnetically for some tag-team combat.
As for the rest of the team, there’s Fred (T.J. Miller), who uses a monster suit that allows him to jump high and breath fire. Jamie Chung’s Go Go Tomago is a laconic Clint Eastwood type, a woman of few words but one of the few on the team who is tough from the start. She’s developed a bike that features magnetic levitation via maglev discs that she can detach and throw. Honey Lemon (Genesis Rodriguez) is a chemistry student and the soul of the group; she’s a sharp, shrewd genius with a bag of chemicals that can create weapons and other substances. Finally, Wasabi (Damon Wayans Jr.) is unsure about the superhero life to begin with, but embraces his destiny with plasma lasers on his arms…
We’ll have to wait until January 30 for the film to make it over here, but this latest reel shows that Big Hero 6 could be a wild ride…
