The middle of summer. Yes, that's exactly the time you’d expect to see a trailer for a Christmas-set comedy. But at least the Aardman team behind CG ‘toon Arthur Christmas have embraced the incongruity and made it part of the joke in this second teaser for the comedy, which you can watch below.
brightcove.createExperiences();This new promo continues the running theme of the first one that launched last December – namely that Arthur (voiced by James McAvoy) loves everything about the festive season and wants nothing more than to introduce the world to his dad’s operation. Unfortunately for him, his father is Father Christmas and the rest of his family, not to mention the elves that work for him, are trying to maintain strict security about the whole shebang.
We get to glimpse a little more of the impressive organisation that goes into delivering presents to the world’s children and there’s a nice joke featuring a polar bear. What more do you want?
Christmas represents a big gamble for Aardman, which hasn’t had the best of luck with its CG ‘toons so far. But this is shaping up to be something fun.
The cast also includes Bill Nighy, Jim Broadbent, Imelda Staunton and Hugh Laurie, and the film will arrive in our cine-stockings on November 23.
