New Annie Trailer Dances In

Previous trailers and promos have naturally focused on the title character of the new Annie, played by Quvenzhané Wallis. While she’s still all over this new promo, there’s a little more focus on William Stacks, the billionaire businessman and wannabe politician embodied by Jamie Foxx. Check out the latest trailer.

The story, course, remains largely the same as the original film / musical / comic strip, just with a modern coat of paint and a few tweaks here and there. Annie is living the hard knock life in foster care with the spiteful, thoughtless Miss Hannigan (Cameron Diaz, having some fun with an all-scenery diet). But when Annie accidentally meets Stacks, her world seems to be changing for the better. Convinced that being seen around the girl will help his poll numbers, Stacks lets her stay in his massive penthouse apartment. But it’s Annie who really has an effect on him as he starts to think he could be a better man.

Featuring running jokes about how Foxx’s character thinks he’s Batman (because he’s prone to violently attacking criminals and ends the film saving New York by flying a nuclear device away to safety rich) and plenty of fun poked at Diaz, Annie also boasts the likes of Rose Byrne, Bobby Cannavale, and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje. US audiences will see the film on December 19, but we’ll have to wait until February 6 next year.
