Dinosaurs are back in a big way in movieland. In the right corner we give you the velociraptor in The Tree Of Life: lethal at eight months, moving at cheetah speed and even smarter than Sam Neill; swooping into the left corner is the Parisian pterodactyl at the heart of Luc Besson's The Extraordinary Adventures of Adèle Blanc-Sec, less aggressive but pretty scary in its own flappy way.

Even the latter can't perturb the doughty young reporter of Luc Besson's terrific new movie. Adèle Blanc-Sec (Louise Bourgoin) is best described as a cross between Indiana Jones and Amelie, with a little Tintin thrown in for good measure.

When we meet her she's in Egypt searching for a mummy with mysterious properties. But Adèle's Major Toht figure, Dieuleveult (Mathieu Almaric), has other ideas. Meanwhile, back in Paris, that pterodactyl mysteriously hatches at the museum and sets about causing carnage around the unsuspecting city.

Yes, there is much that's mysterious about Besson's adaptation of the Jacques Tardis comic books. Too mysterious to describe here. So sit back, enjoy the trailer and post your thoughts below.

The Extraordinary Adventures of Adèle Blanc-Sec is out on April 22.
