Pulse Rifle with a twist

Neill Blomkamp Shows Off An Aliens Weapon

We all know Neill Blomkamp likes sci-fi hardware – his last film was all about a robot, for example. So now that he officially has the chance to make his take on an Alien film, he’s indulging that desire with full gusto. He posted an image of a pulse rifle to Instagram to demonstrate his enthusiasm and to offer a little tease of things to come in his pic.

Little is still known officially about what we can expect from the film, which producer and Alien universe overlord Ridley Scott has said we can expect after his own Prometheus sequel Alien: Paradise Lost, but it’s apparently going to follow the story from Aliens and either work in or (more likely) sidestep** Alien 3** and Resurrection completely. Sigourney Weaver and Michael Biehn should be back as Ripley and Hicks, though the story remains a tightly-wrapped secret.

And the pulse rifle in the picture does show some changes – Blomkamp has added a Rail Interface System, which allows for weapons to be modified with extra accessories – in this case, some sort of sight. Makes sense, though: with Hicks returning, of course, he’d have a friend along.
