If you were headed to this year’s San Diego Comic-Con looking forward to seeing something of Tom Cruise’s new sci-fi thriller All You Need Is Kill, we have bad news: you won’t. Because it’s now called Edge Of Tomorrow. Fear not, it will be part of Warner Bros.’ panel on Saturday. To go with the new name, there’s a poster for the movie, which you can see below.
Edge Of Tomorrow finds Cruise as Lieutenant Colonel Bill Cage, dropped into the middle of a near-future conflict between humanity and a seemingly unbeatable alien race. Cage is an officer who has never seen a day of combat when he is unceremoniously sent on what amounts to a suicide mission. Killed within minutes, he finds himself thrown into a time loop where he fights and dies in the same battle, but with each repetition, learns to engage his adversaries with increasing skill.{First All You Need Is Kill Still}
Despite the title shift, the movie remains based on Hiroshi Sakurazaka’s novel. Emily Blunt, Bill Paxton, Kick Gurry, Dragomir Mrsic, Charlotte Riley, Jonas Armstrong and Franz Drameh are among the cast, Doug Liman called the shots, and the film is set for release here on May 30 next year.
