While the film is still labouring under the working title of Snow White, Tarsem Singh’s take on the famous fairytale is both edging ahead of the competition in terms of shooting dates and adding more cast to an already sizeable line-up. The latest additions? Nathan Lane and Robert Emms.
Lane should need no real introduction, and has signed on to play Brighton, a servant to the ruthless Queen (Julia Roberts) who stays in his position because he’s afraid of his boss.
Emms, meanwhile, is very much a newcomer, having made the jump from TV to films such as The Arbor last year. Since then he's landed two major films in Anonymous and War Horse. He’ll play Renbock, valet to Price Alcott (Armie Hammer).
The movie’s plot will add more layers to the traditional tale of the jealous Queen who decides that Snow (Lily Collins) is too beautiful to live, and that she should get rid of her. But the princess doesn’t take the threat lightly and decides to fight back.
Singh is now scheduled to kick off shooting next month and Snow White – or whatever it ends up being called – will be out in June next year.
