Naomi Watts Plays Funny Games

Haneke remaking his own film in English

Naomi Watts Plays Funny Games

Silly us. In something of a slight oversight, last week when we reported that top sheila (we have it on good authority) Naomi Watts is to commence work in London on David Cronenberg's next film Eastern Promises, we neglected to mention that this would come after her collaboration with Hidden director Michael Haneke, on the English language remake of his own Austrian thriller Funny Games.

Adapting classy foreign thriller/chillers (with a pretty solid success rate, we might add), is getting to be something of a habit for Naomi, who starred in the US versions of both ** The Ring** and Ring Two – the latter of which was also directed by the creator of the Japanese originals, Hideo Nakata.

There's been no announcement of a precise shooting date for Funny Games, but Watts' part in proceedings will have to be - for the most part - done and dusted by November, when she moves on to the Cronenberg project.

Apologies for the oversight.
