COULSON LIVES! Sorry… Got carried away there. While Clark Gregg is indeed part of the cast for Joss Whedon’s homegrown adaptation of Much Ado About Nothing, he’s not playing Phil Coulson, unless this is the sneakiest Avengers crossover in the history of crosses and, um, overs. Check out the trailer below.

This does have a tie in to those assembled Avengers, though, because Whedon shot the film at his house in 12 days when he was supposed to be having a break between principal photography and post-production on the superhero behemoth.

An extension of the Shakespeare readings Whedon conducts at his pad with various actors from his oeuvre, this is a modern-day take on Shakespeare’s romantic comedy drama.

The story focuses on a house party and wedding whereat the lives of two couples intertwine. Young lovers Hero (Jillian Morgese) and Claudio (Fran Kranz) are about to get married, and mischievously convince their warring friends Beatrice (Amy Acker) and Benedict (Alexis Denisof) that they're secretly in love with one another. But Hero and Claudio are themselves ripped apart by a lie, and much complication and conflict ensues before everyone's love life is set back on the straight and narrow.

Nathan Fillion and Tom Lenk, meanwhile, play foolish local watchmen Dogberry and Verges. The poster and a new pic from the film (which could be a spoiler if you haven't read or seen a production of the 400-year-old play) are also online today.

The film closed the Glasgow Film Festival last week to huge acclaim, so we can assure you that Whedon and the Bard work well together, and fortunately you don’t have to wait too long now. **Much Ado About Nothing **arrives in the UK via Kaleidoscope Entertainment on June 14.
